Business Water Rates Increase by up to 20%

If you haven’t considered switching business water suppliers before, this would be a good time to do it. Otherwise, you could quite literally be letting water run down the drain.

That’s because on the 1st April 2023 water charges increased across the UK by up to 20%, depending on who supplies your water.

The increase has been driven by the rise in inflation and an increase in the default price cap set by the water industry regulator Ofwat.

What are the different charges on a business water bill?

Business water bills consist of several costs with varying tariffs set by the individual water supplier.

These include:

· Metered water used and wastewater produced.

· Surface water and highways drainage charges which cover the collection and disposal of rainwater that lands on your roofs, paths and private roads.

· Trade effluent charges for manufacturing and production companies generating industrial or process wastewater sent to a sewer.

As water tariffs and wastewater charging structures can be complex, calculation errors are not uncommon. Another part of our service when you switch is to look for any discrepancies in your water bills to claim any rebates you might be entitled to.
